Red deer, Glen Affric. Habour seal, Dunvegan Castle, Skye.

2013 is the Year of Natural Scotland, so there's never been a better time to get out and enjoy our stunning wildlife. Scotland's Big 5 are especially exciting to spot in the wild and include the iconic red deer, otter, golden eagle, harbour seal and red squirrel.

You may be surprised to learn that the red squirrel can be found in many parts of Scotland. However, for a truly great vantage point, take yourself to Loch Awe in Argyll and Bute. Loch Awe offers a fabulous wilderness for anyone interested in the outdoors while also boasting many ruined castles, including one of the most photographed castles in Scotland - Kilchurn Castle. It's the perfect place to witness Scotland's tufted acrobat, also known as the red squirrel.

For your chance to encounter a red squirrel, enter our competition to win a break to see Scotland's Big 5.
